mUsa: ‘AMN’ EP

We’ve been hyping rising New Jersey rapper mUsa for a while now. After releasing a string of spacey singles showcasing his politically biting lyrics and hypnotic production (“Demons,” “TSA,” “It Be Like That” and “Please Shut The Fuck Up”) – he’s now released his debut EP titled AMN.

Featuring production from frequent collaborator Levitatingman, AMN is a pointed album full of defiance and haunting, psychedelic vibes. Lead track “Never Gonna Stop” is a persistent attack on society’s oppressive forces, with mUsa asserting his duty to defend through his art: “I just be aiming like dart/ I just be making that art/ They’re just trying to play a part/ Been through a story arc/ If they acting like a narc/ Left hook making marks.” Meanwhile, on “Vanished,” mUsa absolutely bounces around Levitatingman’s dark, ominous beats with ease and relentless fury. Also, on “4 to 5,” his flow is direct and fiery, with swelling production bringing the EP to a hypnotizing, cathartic climax. It’s some mind-bending, righteous, cerebral stuff from a rapper who is absolutely buzzing with confidence right now. Listen to AMN below via Spotify.
