Frankie and the Witch Fingers are one of the very best bands in the LA psych-rock scene at the moment. Today, they unleashed a brand new 7″ vinyl called Pleasure, and as well as the video for the record’s anthemic title track. The song is a dancey and groovy slice of modern garage-psych, with uplifting guitar melodies fusing with rhythmic basslines and thrashy percussion. Singer/guitarist Dylan Sizemore’s wily vocal delivery spearheads the song’s marauding prog-rock impulses. There’s an explosive quality to it as the interplay between vocals, guitars and drums hits you in sudden sonic blasts. It’s a dynamic and quirky track – packed with zany twists and turns – that always keeps you guessing.
Meanwhile, the song’s video is a colorful and hazy lyric-vid; grainy, kaleidoscopic VHS-like footage of macabre images and faces intersect with ribbed geometric patterns as Sizemore’s shouts of “*PLEASURE*” flash across the screen. It matches the track’s unpredictable, effervescent mood at every step.
Also, we’ve got even more exciting Frankie and the Witch Fingers news to share. The band recently announced the release of their upcoming fifth LP ZAM, out March 1 via Greenway Records! You can pre-order that HERE. Based on this first taste, we’re expecting ZAM to be a truly wild ride, and another bold sonic step forward for the charismatic Los Angeles group. When that album drops, we’ll be sure to bring you full coverage. In the meantime, you can purchase the Pleasure 7″ HERE, and watch the track’s video below.
